Who We Are
We are weekly hour-long radio show broadcasting live on 103.3 Asheville FM since May 2015. We play WestCoast pop, rock, and soul from the 70s, 80s & 90s and NuCoast from the new millennium.
How We Got Started
In 2009, Erik Mattox was one of a large group of DJs and music lovers who helped to get a new radio station off the ground called Asheville FM, which has been broadcasting online since September 2009 and at the frequency 103.3 FM since May 2015. Erik started broadcasting his show, The UnCola since the beginning where he plays ‘Forgotten Pop from the Last 50 Years’. During the show, he would spin a West Coast Breeze, which would be a West Coast music track from the 70s & 80s. This evolved into an annual broadcast called The Best of The West Coast. As listener feedback was very high for these programs, Erik thought about spinning off The WestCoast Breeze as its show.
In May of 2015, an opportunity arose allowing that to happen and the Breeze has been blowing through your speakers ever since. You listen to archives of the show at The WestCoast Breeze’s Mixcloud page.
