News from Peter Mayer:

Greetings friends, family, fans new, old, and yet to be,

I’m happy to announce that “Songs for the Birds,” the first studio album I have recorded in five years, is ready for release!! After taking the summer off from our usual group touring to write and record, the new album will be available November 1st.

Most of the 13 songs on this album had their beginnings in odd quotes, song titles, bits of verses, and titles scribbled in my dog-eared writing notebook. From time to time, sometimes months, a year or even fifteen later, I’d page through some of the old ideas. Some were best left sleeping on the pages. Others returned again and again refusing to leave me alone. Why did I wait so long to finish them? There always seemed to be squeakier wheels to grease. Like you, my dos of the day would trump those quieter but worthy voices, until out of the blue… there comes a chance; a hush in the crowd, the time to shut the door, grab a guitar, call some friends, and say we are going to get this done.

A huge thank you to the marvelous musicians that contributed to bringing these songs alive. And we might have been waiting another 15 years had it not been for my wonderful production team who pulled together artwork, layout and scheduling.

“Songs for the Birds” comes with a beautiful package that includes a CD, digital download, song notes, and lyrics in a 12-page booklet.  Please see this link for ordering info!
