Hemifrån is an independent A&R, promotion and marketing company, based in the heart of Sweden, specializing in, what they call, “gut music” – The kind of music that you can feel in your gut, no matter what. Hemifran is promoting a lot of singer-songwriter, westcoast-pop, country, AOR and more. Here are featured some of their latest news – it is not all west coast, but dig into it!

Ruby Lovett – It´s A Hard Life

Ruby Lovett is pure country. She is heir to a tradition of women with drawls and spunk. She is funny, unaffected, and unabashedly traditional in outlook. The combination makes both her singing and her presence extraordinarily appealing. The fact that such appeal is tied to a beautifully one of a kind voice is all the better. Her music is as real as she is, full of honest emotion and real life situations, sung with unaffected grace and power. To hear her sing is to witness the flowering of a life and musical approach that began with a childhood in Laurel, Mississippi. More information at Hemifran.

Lynne Hanson – Just Words

On February 7th, 2020, Ottawa based songwriter Lynne Hanson will release her 7th studio album, “Just Words” on CD and LP. Too tough for folk and too blues influenced for country, Lynne’s brand of ‘porch music with a little red dirt’ can turn on a dime from a sunshine, blue sky ballad to a full on thunderstorm of gritty americana swamp from one song to the next. Nilsen´s Southern Harmony – Coastology

From the coast of northern Norway, to the Gulf Coast, and back. 9 years after the 1st album by Nilsen’s Southern Harmony, here’s the 2nd. Since that 1st album, Bjoern Nilsen as a writer, has had more than 50 songs recorded by other artists, including 3 European top 5 hits, on HotDisc Top 40, and 3 Norwegian #1’s in 2018. “Coastology” was written and recorded with a dynamic line up of mighty fine American and Norwegian writers, singers, and musicians. Lawson Vallery Band – S.T.

Lawson Vallery was born in the southern US state of Louisiana, but soon after his family moved to Texas, that is where he grew up, always moving from town to town as the family followed the great Texas oil boom of the 40’s and 50’s. Beginning in the early 50’s most of his entertainment came from listening to the Grand Old Opry and Louisiana Hayride on the radio or going to movies featuring singing cowboys like Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Tex Ridder. It seems that he knew from an early age that a singing cowboy was what he really wanted to be, so he began to document his young life in the form of poems and lyrics. More information at Hemifran.

White Owl Red – Afterglow

Singer and songwriter Josef McManus’s anticipated 4th White Owl Red album continues to explore the messy complexity of contemporary culture and values with ferocity and vulnerability. These 10 songs embrace musical innovation without pandering to formula, seamlessly blending country, folk, americana and rock influences with indie vibes. More information at Hemifran.

Rebecca Turner – The New Wrong Way

Rebecca Turner has made 2 well received albums, 1st, “Land Of My Baby” in 2005, then “Slowpokes” in 2009. Writing for a 3rd began almost immediately after “Slowpokes was” released. Then she was swept away by a dream like, sometimes uncomfortable, but always interesting sea of time and family and cats and work. Years passed, songs came and went, but she kept performing and writing. Finally, a deadline of early 2020 was set for the new album, “The New Wrong Way”. More information at Hemifran.

Stephanie Hatfield – Out This Fell

“Out This Fell”, Stephanie Hatfield’s 4th studio album, is an indie, folk and pop offering that spins an assortment of epic tales including that of a 50 year friendship set in Naples, the abandonment of those left to the decay of Detroit, surviving a mental breakdown in the mountains of Northern New Mexico, and the sweet simplicity of a love that still holds true and comforting even after death. Tom Mank & Sera Smolen – We Still Know To Love

Tom Mank & Sera Smolen’s recent CD’s have been recorded in Woodstock, NY, Ithaca, NY, and Ooigem, BE, with American, Dutch and Belgian musicians and vocalists contributing. Their CD’s have received enthusiastic reviews in both the US and Europe. More information at Hemifran.

”Därför att jag nått den punkt i livet då min musik spelas av de, för mig, bästa tänkbara musiker, kallar jag bandet The Bäst Band!” ~ Mikael Ramel

“Mikael Ramel Band Till Dej : The Bäst Band Lajv 2019” släpps på CD, LP och digitalt av Hemifrån/Paraply Records med distribution av Border Music den 14:e februari 2020. More information at Hemifran.
