Merry X-Mas & Happy New Year

I love writing Christmas music. It’s some of the easiest songs to write… You draw from your own memories – it’s kind of a wellspring of inspiration, in a way. With other songs, you know, you spend six months just trying to figure out what to write about. Michael McDonald

It is always weird to be in the studio working on Christmas music in June and July, so we decorated the entire studio, we really did. We brought out lights, fake trees and decorated the place to get in the Christmas spirit. You’d leave the studio, and it’d be 100 degrees out in Nashville, but nonetheless, a great experience. And of course there’s so much music in and around our family. I had a piano during Christmas because it’s obviously useful through the season. There are so many people, songwriters, who are around. Ashley Judd
