Gospel performer Bob Bailey was best known in country circles for his work as a backing vocalist, primarily on mainstream artists’ excursions into spiritual and holiday territory.

A popular session singer, he appeared on recordings for Reba McEntire (Rumor Has It, For My Broken Heart), Vince Gill (Let There Be Peace on Earth, High Lonesome Sound), Garth Brooks (Beyond the Season), Dolly Parton (Home for Christmas), and Sawyer Brown (Buick).

He also recorded and toured with Wynonna, and performed with pop artists like Billy Joel and James Ingram.

As a solo gospel artist, Bailey’s most successful recording was I’m Walkin,’ which was nominated for a Grammy award in the Best Male Gospel Performance category.
