Kilimanjaro – “Watching Over You / Walk This Endless Road”

The Swedish band Kilimanjaro returns with new material in 2026. “Watching Over You” was initially released digitally as a single on May 25th, while the physical release I have here combines “Watching Over You” with “Walk This Endless Road.”

“Watching Over You” hits the sweet spot of the melodic genre: warm guitars, keyboards, beautiful harmonies, and pleasant vocals. It is the kind of well-produced melodic rock where the melody is allowed to take center stage. The music moves between classic AOR and modern melodic rock, and the track has also been described as atmospheric, elegant, and emotional.

The lineup for the recording is interesting. Emmanuel Sandström handles guitars, bass, and backing vocals; Andreas Tillborg handles keyboards and backing vocals; and Daniel Dahlqvist provides the lead vocals on “Watching Over You.” Richard Sandström plays drums and also handled the mixing and mastering.

On “Walk This Endless Road,” Emmanuel Sandström and Andreas Tillborg take on lead vocal duties themselves, while Emmanuel also plays guitar and bass, and Andreas plays keyboards.

This gives the release a lovely, handcrafted feel. You can sense that Kilimanjaro isn’t trying to follow current trends, but is instead focusing on great melodies, guitars, keyboards, and strong vocal harmonies.

Kilimanjaro is not an entirely new name to AOR collectors, either. The group released the album *Open Your Heart* back in 2012—an 11-track melodic rock album.
