Blue Ambition hits the spot with their debut album Seduction of the Innocent – a well-casted AOR gem oozing musicality, mood and classic elegance. Behind the project are three strong names: Frederic Slama (known from AOR), the Swedish guitar wizard Tommy Denander and the powerful vocalist Robbie LaBlanc, and together they deliver an album that is buzzing with both nostalgia and fresh energy.
From the first note, you feel Slama and Denander’s safe hand with songwriting and production. It’s grand, melodic and full of good sounds – exactly as the genre should be. The guitar solos flow elegantly, the keyboard surfaces are atmospheric and there is a clear red thread throughout the album.
Robbie LaBlanc’s vocals are a pure treat. He sings with both soul and strength, bringing depth to every track – from the energetic uptempo cuts to the more soulful ballads. His voice lifts the music and ties the entire expression together in an impressive way.
Seduction of the Innocent feels like a tribute to the golden AOR era, but with a modern twist. The production is razor sharp, the songs are catchy and well composed, and it’s all done with a love for the genre that one can only respect.
In short: A debut album with both heart and class. Blue Ambition has delivered a strong start, which promises good for the future. AOR fans shouldn’t cheat themselves out of this experience.
