Funky Flava from this brilliant westcoast/fusion guitarist…

With his abillity to play virtually all styles of guitar on jingles, filmtracks and Cd’s – pumping out solid rythm comp on the clubscene, and sending scorching solos into the homes of a million plus Danish television viewers, it’s no wonder he plays about 250 gigs a year

It all started back in 1981 when Reiff jr. graduated from highschool, and started his musical education, at the musicschool in Holstebro. In 1982 he moved to Copenhagen and started playing with the pro musicinas in Denmark.

In 1986 he was introduced to bandleader Jan Glaesel and started working in his band. This let him to play with such stars as Randy Crawford, Robert Palmer, Paul Young, Curtis Stigers and Toots Thielemanns not to mention the cream of the Danish musicscene. With Jan Glaesel he played on several tv-shows as a part of the houseband and over the years you could see Reiff jr. play at: “Meyerheim & co.” (a Danish version of The Tonight Show), “Don’t forget Your Toothbrush” & “Safari” In these shows Reiff jr. performed with many great national and international artists.

In 1996 Reiff jr. founded the musiccompany DaRoof. In 1997 Reiff jr. started his own musicprojects and the first job was as musical director of the TV-show “It’s Saturday Night”, a show, which was shown primetime saturday night. Beside this he did all the musical arranging on the TV-show “Mandagschancen”.

With all the TV-shows, the studiojobs and touring with different artists led to in 1998 that Reiff jr. was included in the “International Who’s Who In Music”.

For 3 sesons Reiff jr. was the musical director of the TV-show “The Big Class Reunion” which featured artists like David Sanborn, Mark King and Chaka Khan. A major TV success that later was sold to other countries.

During spring 2000 Reiff jr. lived in New York composing and producing. One of the songs he wrote and produced was “Who Would You Be”, released October 2000. All earnings from this release are donated to “Projekt Udenfor”, who is working to improve the situation for homeless in Denmark.

In 2001 junior toured with Danish Music Awards winner : Infernal and nominee: Blue Eyes/Julie Rugaard. In september 2001 Reiff jr. played several concerts in Malaysia and during november he toured with the outstanding keyboard player David Garfield from LA. For the third time Reiff jr. was the musical director of the “New Year Show of ARTE”. ARTE is the biggest manegement-agency in Denmark – and the show featured more than 150 artists.

Right now Reiff jr. is recording his his own material with his band Funky Flavas. One of the songs (written while Reiff jr. lived in Italy during november and december 2002) is sung by Michael Ruff and one of the tracks has a solo played by Mike Stern.

Summer/early fall 2003 Reiff jr. will be touring all over Scandinavia with Lenny Castro, Alex Ligertwood and David Garfield.

Now late 2003 the “Funky Flavas” album has been released on the DaRoof label. Songs in the funky westcoast fusion style all arranged by Reiff jr. and with a lineup of talentet danish musicians and international artists.

From funky music to soft ballads brings you around the musical world of Reiff jr. with his excellent guitarplayin´and arranging. In the studio people like Michael Ruff & Mike Stern has been giving their contribution to this “Funky Flavas” album and its great to hear an album were there is freedom and creative space to the music without commercial thoughts.

In 2004 Soren Reiff started the recordings to the next solo project. The album “Miss You” did take more or less 6 years to finalize, with recordings in Denmark and Los Angeles.
